White butterbur

Petasites albus. A species from continental Europe. It is believed to have been brought to Staffordshire in 1890 by Canon Hawksford, the headmaster of a boys’ school. It has naturalised by riverbanks and woodland edges in northern England and Scotland. Here it is in a small nature reserve at the edge of Arnside village.

My extra is a view of Grange over Sands and Kents Bank, homes of Blippers Ken Petch and flavia13.
