Squall over Morecambe Bay

The days are getting longer! There was time to be a roadie for Wifie's Tuesday afternoon class; get home and take Gus for his second walk; and then nip down to Far Arnside for a look into Morecambe Bay from the Dip, and still get back for a cup of tea before it was dark.

I had been thinking there might be a sunset after a day of bright sunshine between towering clouds. Though as can be seen here, there was an incoming wintery shower of heavy rain mixed with hail advancing rapidly from the north west. On the far right is the nose of Humphrey Head projecting into the Bay, on the left just visible are the power stations at Heysham. In the middle foreground, reduced to microscopic size in this photo was a small flock of shelducks dabbling for tiny Hydrobia snails.  In the far distance is Ireland, hidden by distance and Earth's curvature. Any possibility of a sunset was thoroughly blotted out.

Luckily, the car was parked near enough to avoid too intense a soaking.
