What lies beneath

**Backblip**
The River Effra flows below my part of south London and every so often one of these plaques reminds the walker of its presence. Sometimes, the river bubbles up through the pavement. In the 19th century, Sit Joseph Bazalgette incorporated the Effra into his new sewerage system.

I enjoyed a lovely walk today. The blossom is out and in Norwood Park, redwings had joined the starlings – it was super to see them.

In the garden, Juno shouted at pigeons (see extra).
