Close to me

Although work has become less pressing, this week seems to have been taken up with all sorts of tasks that I've been ignoring for the last few months.

Daisy came through her operation on Tuesday really well, despite being belatedly diagnosed with a heart murmur when they gave her the pre-meds, and then her blood pressure dropping dramatically towards the end of the procedure. The veterinary nurse  rang to say they wanted to keep her on fluids for a few hours, so we arranged to pick her up at 5 p.m., but she then bounced back so quickly that we had to fetch her an hour early. She's been eating voraciously ever since and is so happy - like a different cat.

We were told to keep her indoors with a litter tray, but she wasn't impressed and refused to use it. She obviously needed to go out in the night, but then had a rather dramatic accident on Ben's bed, which meant that yesterday we had to go and buy him some new bed linen and a quilt cover. Since then we've left the cat flap open and there's been no further incidents. Yesterday afternoon was spent burning up the brash from our willow pollarding - amazingly Alex and Pete managed to dispose of the whole huge pile, while I did a bit more trimming back and ivy pulling.

Today we visited Molly but unfortunately she was having one of her 'nasty' spells when we arrived. Fortunately we were able to divert her with scones and the prospect of a meal out on the Saturday before Mother's Day,  which has given her something to look forward to.

So no photography opportunities for a while, but to avoid too long a gap I created an abstract based on something very close to me. Can anybody guess what it is? Thanks to Ingeborg for hosting Abstract Thursday.
