The watcher

I've written before about my tendency to see faces and forms in trees and lose myself contemplating them. Well in a quite moment today I was letting my imagination go for a wander when I noticed this particular tree had opened an eye and was watching me back. It didn't look too friendly standing there on the other side of the hedge, its elephant skin bark contrasting with the red remnants of autumn, staring out from under its snowy white eyebrow with its reptilian eye. I think they've noticed me, they know I'm onto them and they'll be watching ME from now on.
