Chris Lovett would like this shop...

One of today’s many tasks was a vaccinations / malaria tablet appointments in Bristol for our upcoming Ethiopia trip. Scanning the list of required vaccinations, I was pleased to see I’d already had most of them from India two years ago and Central America four years ago. This should be a quick in-out for malaria tablets and yellow fever jab, I thought.
Nope, your Hep A is out of date. And your Typhoid. ...four needles, forty five mins and €200 each for sore arms. Three needles even for Rory who is pretty well travelled.

Next on the list, new trainers for Rory. We spotted a cool and colourful streetwear / skate / self-proclaimed-lifestyle store stocked with funky clumpy trainers and t-shirts with Uma Thurman on them.
“I’ll tell you who would like this store, Chris Lovett, he’s in Bristol now, we should really arrange to go and see him!’

Ten minutes of debating with the store man ensue between two pairs of half price shoes (one for £62 and another pair reduced to £78 of Rory’s £80 budget - relevant later).

“CHRIS! CHRIS!!”
*american accent*
‘CHarrrliee?’

Will and Chris will visit Grandad on Friday, so now the plan is for me to join and we’ll all head for a drink and possibly into town afterwards! I’m looking forward to hearing more about their travel plans and exciting housemates.

We return to the store manager to discuss shoes, and he is smiling away at our encounter. Then he decides to sell both pairs of shoes to Rory for £80 so he doesn’t have to decide! What a hero!

Afterwards, I get the train to Keynsham to join Mum on a visit to Grandad. Actually, after ten minutes he was quite anxious to hear the results of the quiz they were doing that evening in the living room with the others, and would really rather do that (which he’s getting quite a reputation for we understand!). Anyway, better that he’s enjoying himself and I’ll join the cousins on Friday.
