Aquamarine/Nanna K's Day

By NannaK

"It's Not Working!"

It’s what Oskar used to say when he was a toddler and couldn’t do something.
We’ve been at the island for 2 days now.... Still enjoying not constant news update.. (6pm on our one CBC channel)  but i do read some emails.. in the last 2 days I have learned :

The Seattle public library is open but all public events are cancelled this month.
The SPL big book sale has been postponed.
The same with the Seattle art museum.  All events cancelled.
Of course the UW but that means all public events there such as my book arts lecture: cancelled.   Have yet to hear about the concert we have tickets to on campus... I’m sure they can’t do that either.
The university bookstore is open but they encourage sales by mail ( free shipping if over $50) all events cancelled.
The rowing club youth fundraiser breakfast cancelled.
The little Scandinavian bakery says call with an order and they will bring it out to your car at the  curb with a smile!

I just find it hard to believe all this is necessary, even for the epicenter. And such a worry for lost work and revenue for many.

But the one closest to my heart today is the Suessical for kids, ,Fiona’s school play she has been practicing since Christmas, performing some of the song and dance routines and  her one spoken line, for us, but not all as she wants us to be surprised.    She was one of the first to sign up as she wants to be an actress and this is very exciting for her.   It was scheduled for the 19th but the day before we came up here it was changed to a different venue ( not school) on the 14th..  We would make it home for that but are not surprised they can’t do it with an audience now.   Family at last minute got to see the dress rehearsal.  And it’s on you tube.
I can  imagine a private performance in  our Irving room with that video later......

I have a cough ( garden variety virus I’m sure) so would not go anywhere in public and cough anyway.   Maybe we’ll just stay here.

Had to blip the Star Wars  jigsaw puzzle . Started after New Years.   Worked on it in feb when we were here but  there were 32 very similar  pieces left.   It’s one of those that are so much the same you can mistakenly place one... I’ve found 3 of those and am down to 21 pieces.  Ha.    .   If you see a piece let me know:-)   Blipper friend PaulaJ suggested  it was a metaphor for the times.... the  pieces just don’t fit!     ( I WILL get it!)

Off to light the sauna,   My work today was making soup and washing the filthy kitchen floor, on hands and knees, one square at a time.
