The Snow Hare - backblip

Great journey down to Wiltshire yesterday and so good to be staying with longtime friends who were up in Shropshire for quite a few years 30 years ago but are now back home in Wiltshire again and surrounded by all the family.  After a slow rising we spent the morning in Devizes where I saw this beautiful Snow Hare in the Bluestone Gallery, along with many other very desirable pieces of art and craftworks and had a good mooch round the town.  Particularly one of the back streets made up of 15th Century buildings, most of which is the Hat Shop.

We spent the afternoon in Marlborough, lunch in the Marlborough Arms pub, where we sat on wonderful up-cycled and colourful furniture in front of a blazing log fire and then more mooching.  The Marlborough college students were out and about in the lunch hour, some of the girls wearing long black skirts and others tartan kilts.  We stopped a couple of the long skirted girls to ask what the different apparel was and now we know:  6th formers wear the long skirts (one of the girls had her pyjamas underneath!!!) and the kilts are worn by the juniors.  The boys don't wear skirts!

Extras:  The Hat Shop, Devizes.  Upcycling in Marlborough.
