Picnic by the Bird Lake

It was a wonderful, sunny day and mum decided that we should go on an outing! I said Yay!! We haven’t been on many outings this winter. Because there has been NO snow! She prepared a sandwich and a coffee thermos and off we went!

We headed out into the nature reserve, meaning to go to the bird lake where we have a special picnic spot. It was just - when we got to the first parking, it was packed beyond belief. Mum realised it was Saturday! We went further into the nature reserve on the small gravel road. Cars everywhere! Mum finally found somewhere to park, and we found a path through the forest towards the lake.

Let me say this. We have never, ever seen this many people around the bird lake. It felt like the whole entire city was there! It is very lucky it’s a big area. Our favourite spot was busy, of course, but we found another rock to sit on looking out over the lake. It was brilliant! A few swans and geese were already there.  Then we went for a long lovely but muddy walk over the fields and through the forest.

My favourite poos of the day
1. Hare poo: lovely, bite-sized, delicious little treats, readily available everywhere. Bonus: mum often doesn’t see them.
2. Swan/goose poo: oh wow! We don't have that at home. I managed to steal a nibble and managed the beginning of what would have been a very good rolling around, had mum not intervened.
