Aquamarine/Nanna K's Day

Contemplating the “fix”

Last night the power went out at 10:15..very cold, very dark, H went up the trail along our power line with headlamp and spotted a huge tree down (fortunately only 1/2 way up) so we could identify the problem for BC Hydro who were here today … 6 or 7 of them  early afternoon.  These guys are so great…they love their jobs, here they are not just talking about how they were going to deal with this, but telling their own stories of all the tree adventures they have had , especially from that 12/20/18 storm.   Extra is felling that cedar that just got knocked over by the big 3 ft diameter fir of the root ball …which will now require a slight detour in our trail.  (At least no one was walking there at 10:15 PM.)   We’re grateful for these cheerful guys who do good work.     Back on at 3:45. (we had the little generator going for the frig and the coffee machine)

Here’s some small good of this world crises . If we had left yesterday as planned to see Fiona’s play (cancelled) we would not have known about this tree on the line…no one walk would walk there to figure it out.. and who knows when we’ll be back…..so…good we were here!

Not much else accomplished today, except puzzle progress sitting near the fire, and a couple walks up the trail.
Still cold and a little less windy.

And I feel for all the parents in Seattle trying to deal with the no school situation.  DIL brought up the fact that every HS Junior in the country is probably out of school at this critical time before college applications, BUT all the private and Catholic school are holding classes online, unlike Seattle Public Schools.  They are scrambling to offer educational activities thru TV and social media  beginning Mar 23, but also have to have printed info available for those with no computer or TV access thru their meal distribution sites.    What a mess.   Other extra is one solution for granddaughter.    We’ll have to get creative!
