Reflections

Of the sunset in the glass wall of a building not too far from the apartment

And of the day. It began "badly" with being required to leave the meeting with Te Tumanako staff at which we plan the work of the day in order to attend a leadership team meeting on preparations for having patients with CoVid-19. Badly because it reduced by almost an hour and a half the time available for clinical work. From there it was downhill, with the usual plethora of interruptions, and the struggle to get the necessary work done. Offers from colleagues to help with some things had to be taken up as the day progressed, and I realised I was too tired to make safe decisions. Went home early for the first time in weeks.

I'm trying to do too much, and risk doing too little. Some time to think is needed. There is light ahead. We have two excellent locums; one a young New Zealand trained psychiatrist whose plans have changed due to CoVid-19and will be with us for at least two more months. The other an older Swedish psychiatrist who is thinking he'll need to stay longer than he planned because CoVid-19 may have resulted in no flights back to Sweden. If both do stay that long, we may not have any gaps before the new appointees arrive.
