From My Heart to Yours

I've seen a few of these mosaic hearts around town, but this one is new. The grout doesn't even look dry. So I am imagining that it is a special message to us all, a hope, an inspiration., a gift for these unsettling times.

We are under orders to shelter in place, everyone, not just old folks. It is, however, okay to go out for exercise. You may walk with your immediate household; everyone else is subject to the six foot rule. There were a lot of folks out and about--families with little kids, bicyclists, couples, solitary walkers, people with dogs, everyone aware of keeping their distance. It's fortunate that we had a gorgeous day while we're learning the parameters of social distancing, and we are so lucky to live in a beautiful place.

Non-essential activity is curtailed. Most things are closed--restaurants, bars, the library, movies, anything where a number of people could collect. Grocery stores are open, gas stations, various services. We are trying to protect the health system, hopefully by slowing down the spread of the virus through human contact.

Our own plan is to go for a good long walk every day, then work in the garden for a couple hours in the afternoon. That should insure a good night's sleep and keep us lively.
