Dog and log

In our new world order little official mention has been made of dogs which are not normally social distancing, let alone self-isolating, creatures. They still have to be exercised and allowed to perform their natural functions. On this day owners were a good less interactive than their pets.

Here on the shore of the estuary there was evidence of the recent exceptionally high tides in the amount of debris washed up higher than I have ever seen it, including this goose-barnacled log that must have been floating out at sea long enough to attract a dense coverage of these curious crustaceans. Long dead and with their fleshy necks withered to mere ribbons they reminded me of beaded hair extensions.
Not as impressive a sight though as this boat washed up in Washington state three years after the Japanese tsunami (remember that?)
