Earina autumnalis - Easter Orchid

- native to New Zealand. The flowers are tiny, no more than 5mm across. It has quite a strong but pleasant perfume similar to vanilla. It is ephiphytic, and grows in cool temperatures in the bush. I was given this plant earlier this week.  I will wrap the roots in spagnum moss and tie to a suitable tree trunk.  Hopefully next year it will produce a lot of flowers. Family who live in the UK but have spent several weeks touring the South Island arrived today.  The situation has changed so much since they have been away. Understandably they are feeling very apprehensive about going home.
