Social Distancing!

At the PM's briefing last night he announced the new drastic and very necessary measures that have to be followed in the UK - all pubs, cafes and restaurants closed last night, although take-aways still allowed where possible. Everyone is to practice social distancing, and the over 70s and vulnerable (pregnant women and those with underlying health conditions) are advised to self isolate for 12 weeks. People should work from home if they can and all theatres, cinemas and many shops have closed. I was very impressed with the financial aid that our government is giving to companies and people in these challenging times, and generally was very impressed with the way Rishi (our new Chancellor of the Exchequer) and Boris are handling this crisis. I feel confident that they have got a grip on the situation.

But of course there are always those idiots who don't listen to the advice and new rules. Some think social distancing doesn't apply to them because they are young and invincible, some over 70's think social distancing and self isolation mean the same thing. We are given so much advice for a reason - for goodness sake listen to it!

Once again this morning we put Xena into the car but first drove to Waitrose before taking her for her walk in the woods. Oh happy days, I could not believe how many shelves were fully stocked again!  Yes there were no vegetables, no eggs, no chicken, no toilet paper nor anti-bac cleaning stuff, but there were fully stocked shelves of other stuff. I almost did a little whoop of joy when I saw tinned tomatoes, pasta, rice, cereals, coffee beans and many other products again. I did thank the staff for getting products back on the shelves which they seemed to appreciate. Also no queues, it was definitely a better experience than the other shopping trips this week.

Both Luke and Adam came home last night and we had a birthday supper at home to celebrate Luke's birthday. Then today Luke received a delivery from his girlfriend Meriel of some delicious cupcakes that had photos of them in the icing - see extra. He said they were delicious! A photo of Luke to celebrate his birthday - now 24 and he says he is feeling old!!!
