Oxshott Heath

Thank you so much for your very generous comments and hearts on my blip anniversary image yesterday, it is very much appreciated and I enjoyed reading all the comments.

Luke enjoyed his quiet birthday at home with us yesterday - a bit of a bummer to have to spend a second birthday in lockdown, I really hope it will be different for him next year.

Today was unexpectedly sunny and we had a good walk on the heath enjoying the sunshine. The yellow gorse is now looking very pretty all over the heath. You can see the sky trails here, there are many planes still flying but I believe it is mainly goods being transported rather than passengers.

On that note it was depressing to see the headline news today that we should not be booking any summer holidays, I think there is concern if we travel we are at risk of bringing back a variant to the UK, even though from 17 May we are allowed to travel abroad - although this date could be pushed back if necessary. Public Health England have also advised that we could be wearing masks and practicing social distancing for years, until other countries have all been vaccinated. So it doesn't help if you are fully vaccinated and others are not, it looks like we will still be wearing masks for a while yet. Today the UK achieved another record breaking vaccine day with 873,784 vaccinations being administered - that is amazing!

Luke went back to London today, I felt sad to say goodbye to him again. I look forward to when we can all see our families with no restrictions.

PS I added Xena’s birthday card to Luke as an extra  (it’s not Xena but looks very much like her)
