Carn a' Chlamain

We got up late, but as it was such a nice day decided to go to Blair Atholl and cycle up Glen Tilt and go up Carn a' Chlamain and its north top as the latter had been a Munro Top and S couldn’t be sure she had been there. The perils of checking our hills have given us Big Brae on Ben Avon as well to go up (possibly again, but we can’t be sure). All was going well until about half way to the start point I got a puncture so we then had to walk the final 4 kilometres to the base of the hill. We then had lunch and set off up the hill at 14:15, a tad later than we hoped but as there is a track up and the snow was firm when we got to it we were at the ex top by 16:30. As for social distancing we saw a few people cycling and walking, all maintaining a respectful distance and then nobody after lunch. It’s such a pity this sort of responsible access to the hills will likely be halted by the actions of the people in Snowdonia yesterday, when it seems few people were taking the advice seriously. After yesterday’s BBC photo of Motorhomes crowded together somewhere in the Highlands, today they appeared to be going home as we saw 13 Motorhomes, 4 Campervans and 5 Caravans heading south between Perth and Blair Atholl. We were much quicker getting off the hill and despite the long walk back were at the car by 19:30. The blip is Carn a' Chlamain taken on the way down and the extra the view up the Tilt towards the slopes of Braigh Coire Chruinn-bhalgain.
