Day 1

It has been a very strange day. Holiday? Quarantine? House arrest?

All three, I suppose.

In spite of it all, the day had many positives. One was a long (almost an hour) telephone call with a friend from schooldays - a retired dentist, married to the same woman for 40 years, a swarm of grandchildren, living in Edinburgh just a mile from where I grew up.

Apart from being friends, we have very little in common. Politics is one, fortunately. The verdict in the Alex Salmond trial took up a bit of our time.

Grilled sturgeon is enjoyable. Not available in this country, of course.

Dinner was another highlight - venison steak, boiled potatoes, and a beetroot/goat's cheese salad. I have a few bits left for tomorrow. Yes, last minute emergency Blip....
