MonoMonday 322 Day One...

Truthfully I couldn't manage the MM theme this week but in the circumstances hope that I can be forgiven.  Today was Day One of school closures (although key workers can send their children in) and so Violet spent the day with us while her mummy had to go to work.  I decided that we should start a little garden and we began by sowing the carrots seeds that I received from M&S a little while ago.  The kit comes in the form of a dried compost pellet which magically grows when when water is added.  The soil was then popped back into the tiny pot, seeds added and given a final covering of soil. We also planted up a tray of violas.  I have more seeds we can sow at  a later stage.
By this evening we knew that the pattern of our  lives was going to change radically for the foreseeable future when Boris Johnson addressed the nation to tell us that the time had come  for the UK to go into lockdown, banning us from leaving our homes with a few limited exceptions.  Of course key workers are still in the frontline, risking their lives to save ours.
The motor trade has now realised that they must shut their showrooms and after tomorrow, Violet's mummy will be at home.  The situation at the dental practice is more complex: frankly, little official advice has been given, although it is clear that certain procedures should not be undertaken in our usual setting, due to the unavailability of PPE.  It will come down to no routine visits and emergencies receiving advice, analgesia and/or antibiotics.  Hospitals will need to set up some centres where the inevitable dental emergencies can be treated under appropriate conditions.  Financially, the government has promised 80% of pay to employees, but as yet no indication has been given to employers as to how this will be done.  Those who are self employed have yet to be offered any financial support, which in our case affects all associate dentists/hygienists.  It has been decided that Mr MC (who will be 70 this year)  will no longer go in to to see patients during the lockdown.

Hoping to write something more cheerful very soon!
