If you can't beat them.....

Longer walk this morning; we have decided to do the longer walk on three days a week and the shorter one on the remaining days.

People think the countryside is a quiet and peaceful place and for most of the time, they are right.  But not today.  Next to us is a field in which horses are kept, and on the other side of that is a large field used for crops.  Today the farmer decided to harrow the field using his largest and noisiest tractor.  He'd hardly got going when a smaller tractor came into the horse's field and started first towing something round which looked like an upturned bed of nails, and then a large roller.  That took most of the day.  Neighbours on both sides decided to mow their lawn, and one had a large amount of strimming to do too.  He uses a loud petrol strimmer.  Clearly there was no peace to be had today, so I joined in and got the first cut of the year on my lawn too, and then washed all the windows.

It was another lovely warm day; the grape hyacinths are all in full bloom and attracting lots of bees.
