The Edge of the Wold

Social distancing

This walker was taking social distancing very seriously, avoiding the coastal footpath and walking across the quaking, saturated mud on the far side of a creek in Morecambe Bay.  He flushed the crow that had been having a seafood dinner on the mudflats.

We had gone out with Gus to have an evening picnic at dusk with a view across the Bay to Humphrey Head, and well away from other people.  Later in the evening, the expected announcement of the lockdown came, which will put this a little beyond Gus's walking range if we avoid driving to our walking spots.  As for the lockdown, why did they wait so long?  The exponential growth of the epidemic has so clearly been following closely the curve of the virus's impact in Italy, let's hope for the sake of all those on the front line and those most vulnerable, that we can now flatten out the curve - though we won't see the results of the lockdown for 10 days or more.
