Empty Shops

It still is quite a shock to see shops in town empty of stock. Bakers & Larners is an independent department store in Holt that is celebrating it's 250 year anniversary, but this is not the year it or any of us was expecting. I took this photo on my exercise walk this morning after finishing a load of ironing. I thought the sleet had stopped, but it started up again soon after I left and it was really quite cold. Very few people around and not many cars in Budgens car park either. Later I went on Boots website and found I was number 221,531 in the queue (needless to say I didn’t wait). We're in for a very tough few weeks now as we build up to the peak of the virus - stay safe everyone.

Day 14 / Day 6 of Lockdown (for my record only)
UK deaths up 209 to 1,228 (confirmed that there's a 1 day delay in releasing figures for verification purposes); Italy up 756 to 10,779 and Spain up 838 to 6,528 (we appear to be approx 8 days behind Spain). A top US official warns that between 100,000 and 200,000 Americans could die.

We have been warned to prepare for a significant period of social isolation and that measures could yet be strengthened. Measures are likely to be in place in some form for probably six months with regular reviews (not full lockdown). The most vulnerable have been provided with a dedicated website and phone number to ensure they get food and medicines if family and friends can't help. All parts of the country are now on an emergency footing with community groups in place led by a Gold Commander. Now over 0.75M NHS volunteer responders.
