One of our nuthatches stocking up with two seeds

I'm always pleased to see our pair of nuthatches. This one was actually happy to sit on a branch for a few minutes before heading to the feeder again. Usually the only reason it doesn't fly straight on to the feeder is because a squirrel is there trying to break in to the receptacle. Otherwise a nuthatch rules the feeder 'roost'.

Last year they had two broods of chicks, which all flew off to pastures new, I hope. The early spring this year may not allow them to be so successful. We shall see.
