Tulip 'Exotic Emperor' with flower unfurled

The sun crept out at odd times today from the mostly cloudy sky. Rain drizzled in fits and starts dropping through cold air.

This Tulip 'Exotic Emperor' is nearing the end of its flowering period and probably the warmer weather last week didn't suit it. I looked down vertically and focused on the internal base of the flower and rather like the shapes and colours revealed.

Helena walked to town for exercise and to post a jigsaw that we have just finished to one of her sisters in Argyll. I think she'll enjoy it. It was a scene showing the landscape where the Glenfinnan viaduct crosses the glen.
