TT253 - A little bit different

I've never seen a red praying mantis before. Little Miss spotted this one in our garden. MrB had ripped out a couple of trees as a continuation of our garden makeover, and this little critter had been hiding in one of them.

I had to take Nikau to the vets this afternoon. It was a very strange experience. He had been in a fight, and despite our best efforts, it wasn't looking good. I sent a photo to a friend who is a vet in Tasmania, and she suggested that we take him to get looked at. He had a terrible haircut and an antibiotic injection. He's grumpy, but sleeping it all off. The extra is of Nikau.
