Black and White

It started snowing last night, just as it got dark. As we went to bed it was snowing really heavily. When we woke up this morning the world was once again that pure white that only fresh snow provides.
Under the birdfeeders was our small flock of blackbirds. Because there was so much new snow any food under the feeders was hidden so they competed for the fat ball, or dug into the snow hoping to come across a seed or two.
The bird in the picture had figured out it could stand on the twig and then with some light flapping lift up and take a peck or two at the fatball, before the twig swung back away. Clever!
