Prayer for Tourists

In this current lockdown we must do as the philosopher Alain de Bottom advocates – use our memories to relive past pleasures.

So here is the text of a wall scroll,  a souvenir bought on the Spice Island, Grenada, during a holiday in the Caribbean.

It’s a: “ Prayer for Tourists.

“Heavenly Father, look down on us your humble obedient tourist servants, who are doomed to travel the earth, buying souvenirs and walking around in drip dry underwear.

For Husbands only
Dear God, keep our wives from shopping sprees and protect them from bargains they don’t need or cant afford. Lead them not into temptation for they know not what they do.

For Wives only
Almighty Father keeps our husbands from looking at foreign women and then comparing them to us.  Save them from making fools of themselves in cafes and nightclubs.
Above all DO NOT forgive them their trespass for they know exactly what they do.”

This is my contribution to Silly Saturday.
