Separation

After an uninspiring start to my session today, light and colour made an appearance as I made my way back. I was searching for a perspective to catch the light on the water when I noticed the canoeists.

I managed to take a quick shot as they were still in the lighter area, even though my aperture was not ideal and through foreground interference. Subsequent attempts to alter position and composition were not fruitful.

In PS I used frequency separation to take out the worst of the out of focus elements that would otherwise have spoilt a nice image.
