I made the collage of some photos taken by #3 daughter. The kids had been hard work so she contacted her sister in law who is a high school history teacher. Cath got on FaceTime and told them about the Battle of Hastings. They and their mum found stuff to wear and collected the toys to be the army. Ella was William of Normandy and Nathaniel King Harold. You can see them listening to Auntie Cath on the left and bottom left is Ella charging up to the poor old rocking horse and Harold. Others show the battle.

I must assure you no soft toys toys were harmed in the enactment! And a lot of fun (and learning) took place.

We are fine though I think I have hay fever. The pollen count is high and I have itchy eyes and a drippy nose.

We learn we have had one virus death in the village - not included in the official figures as she died at home. In addition there was one suicide and 2 people are in intensive care. Yesterday I did a Zoom with a book group. One woman is sure she and husband have had the virus and are recovering. He worked in London and brought it home, and they isolated,. Another said her London-based son and wife have come to stay before lock down. Our neighbour has her London son moved back. Another friend said her neighbour’s empty house is being lived in by the neighbour’s grandson moved down from Edinburgh. If this is going on all over the country it’s no wonder things are spreading.

Someone in the village suggested we go out and clap for our PM this week. Obviously I don’t want anyone to be ill. But honestly! Grrrrr.
