what an epic day for Mel's birthday--this photo pretty sums up the entire twelve hour experience: beer-infused laughs with some really great folks.

Indeed, it started with a trip to the Robbie's bakery to get some coffee and goodies. Ended up seeing Rowdy and Becky there, who were in town from Alpine for their baby shower (he would appear later in the night).

Then it was time for the micro-roadtrip out to Revolver Brewing with the Gdovins and Juan and a bunch more of us (eight total, in fact) packed into Mel's mini-van. We stayed there for about three hours, imbibing our four sample beers in our included pilsner glass, eating pulled pork sandwiches, and enjoying the blooming weekend under brown skies.

After, headed back to Michael and Mel's for three or four more beers in their backyard. We started a fire in the firepit (while still daylight!)...again, we had some overcast, almost autumn-like weather today. My clothes sufficiently smell like campfire now.

Finally, ended the night at Zio's, where Fort Worth's Best Bartender was tending bar. Saw about twenty other finefolkfriends there, enjoyed having a few more pints and learning about so many people again, hearing about what we are all up to. This post is much too methodical to accurately relay the day's significance.

Quite simply: today was a celebration of life. I could have really just said that, eh?
