If you can't beat them...

By Jerra

WOW that was quick.

In the enforced time round home we have been giving an area under the Amelanchier (Amelanchier candensis) Sorry I haven't heard a common English name, I know our transatlantic cousins use various ones but I don't know an English one.

Yesterday this fern was showing just little green bumps.  Today the largest one is 9 or 10 cm (3.5 or 4 inches).   We have been commenting on how much work we have been getting done because of the long dry spell (we are on the fringe of the Lake District afterall) and the fact nothing else can lure us away from the job.

I hope everybody is staying safe and not suffering too much from "cabin fever".
