Photos from A Field

The things you see when you live in a field

My grandfather used to speak of a day in the 1930s when an old car was seen sneaking onto their farm moving back into the trees. My uncle snuck up on them in the trees and saw them sitting around the car resting with machine guns at the ready. He quietly retreated and soon enough they left as quietly as they had come.

I thought of that today when a long limousine pulled up in the church parking lot, beside our house. Except no Godfather got out of the back.

Instead, a van and a farm truck pulled up and the occupants got out and started kicking the tires, checking over the limo. It seemed like they were thinking of buying the car. (Sorry about the poor quality blip)

I know gas hasn’t been as cheap as it is now for a long long time, but why would a farmer be wanting to purchase a limo?
