A day in the life

The Pond

April at its best. Swingin' weather.

This morning I met up with Bengt at my home, he wasn't pleased with his performance in a couple of the songs we recorded a couple of weeks ago, so we decided to redo them. It's not a big thing, sometimes you hear things differently some time after you recorded something and, since we can do it at home, we re-recorded the songs. It's fun to go through these learning experiences, and necessary if we want to improve our performance.

We needed to meet up anyway because we are invited to do a live streaming of a few of our songs for the city council who transmit one hour a day as a service for everyone bound to their homes during Covid-19. The hour is filled with information, entertainment and interviews with the local people. On the 6th of May we will do four songs as the artists of that day. Great fun to share to others what we do, and spred a few moments of joy and recognition to the, mostly elderly, who now have to stay indoor.

In the afternoon I had a lesson with a student in my home. He wanted to learn various methods of how to go about learning a new song, identifying the chords and how to play it on the guitar when you hear it, for instance on Spotify or Youtube. The process varies of course depending on your previous experience in knowing what to listen for and your skill on your instrument but together we made a checklist that my student was very happy with. It's a big but very fun challenge to learn how to listen for various instrument in a recording and when you start working on it, it changes your way of hearing music completely.

It got pretty late before I could do my walk, by now the weather was beautiful and rather warm too so I took a slow stroll around The Pond, listening to all the birds and seeing the light play on the ground through the trees. The extra is of the path leading around the pond and the main over the water just when you get out into the light you see in the extra.
