Keep Smiling

...... With the confirmation of another 3 weeks of lockdown, that's all we can try to do! It would be nice to be treated as adults though and given a clearer idea of the Government's exit strategy. The vast majority of us are sensible enough to realise that we need to keep these measures going for a while yet and stick to them, even if we were told now what we can expect when the restrictions are eased a bit: schools will need time to plan if there is to be a gradual return of pupils, small businesses will need time to get themselves ready to reopen, etc. As it is, they run the risk of lowering morale, perhaps making some people more likely to ignore the restrictions or lose confidence in the Government or even suspect they haven't really got a clear plan! Surely we can be trusted to be let in on their thinking, without getting 'confused'?

Anyway, rant over.

As it happens it's our 43rd Wedding Anniversary today. We celebrated with a breakfast of ham and eggs, a video call with the kids and a late morning walk on Street Hill. This flag is flying in a garde on the way back.

We went out for a late lunch - out into the back garden, that is. We started in Thailand (Tess cooked Thai fish cakes for starters), moved on to Greece (I did the main of Greek lamb steaks with garlic lemon roast potatoes and Greek salad) and ended up in Austria (shop bought apple strudel). We normally like to be away somewhere for our anniversary, so this was the nearest we could get this year.

Had a long face time chat with my sister and brother-in-law this evening with a virtual G&T.
