Manuka

Well here l am back in UK and not meant to go out for two weeks so l have decided "blipwise" to visit some of the photos of my NZ oddessy that l liked and for whatever reason didn't publish. l guess it most probably breaks the semi rule 'publish on the day' but here goes....

Manuka flowers - Nelson Lakes 19th Jan 2020
The holy graille of honey is Manuka honey which is purported to have all sorts of miraculous medicinal benefits as does its close cousin Kanuka (the difference seems to be that Kanuka is a larger spindlier plant which is not nearly as pricky- Kanuka is kinder). There is a rivalry between New Zealand and Australia on the Manuka honey front but with no beating around this particular bush Manuka is a Polynesian word and Australia is not a Polynesian country.

I chose this photo because it such a pretty little flower, l am not a honey person
