Malus

The first flower on our small apple tree came out on Tuesday. Then all the anthers on these stamens were an even pale yellow. Now, although some remain, most are tinged with brown. Does that mean that insects have collected the pollen from these and pollination has occurred ? I haven't seen any insects taking an interest. 

I have done some research, and the answer is ...... I have no idea. The only way of telling if pollination has led to fertilisation is to wait and see if a fruit develops. 

It is only today that other flowers have emerged. I like fruit tree flowers. Being at home with no place to go, I think I will be watching the development of these flowers into fruit in some detail.
