Coronet Peak .....

..... the very well known skifield in the Wakatipu Basin. I wonder if it’ll be able to open this winter? Time will tell.

Our Government announced new measures today for New Zealand’s ongoing coping with the Covid-19 crisis.

We’re to stay in Level 4 Lockdown for another week, during which time businesses & schools will be able to prepare for the transition. On 28 April we’re to move to Level 3, for a minimum of 2 weeks. Social distancing, staying in one’s bubble, and minimal travel will remain mandatory. Police reinforcement will remain and we’ll continue in a State of Emergency, with Civil Defence to the fore.

PM Jacinda Ardern said that ‘Going Early & Going Hard’ has worked, and that the Covid-19 Govt team want to build on that success. There is no widespread community transmission in NZ at present, and she’s so proud of the exceptional effort made by all Kiwis.
The foundation of today’s decision is based on information provided by the Director General of Health Ashley Bloomfield, who said that ongoing testing & surveillance will be gold standard.

What a team!!! I’m proud to be a Kiwi with this team at the helm.
