Proliferation
The Wisteria has exploded a bit. Pretty though.
I mentioned yesterday that some shops were now open but what I didn't mention was that all the different Bundesländer (German federal States) have different rules.
And we have a perfect and somewhat absurd example in the City of Ulm. Ulm is a city on the Donau (Danube) - (old) Ulm is one side of the river and Neu-Ulm is on the other side. The border between Bayern (Bavaria) and Baden-Württemburg (which in Englisch is Baden-Württemburg) is the Donau.
Bayern has much stricter rules about the lockdown (it's the Bundesland with the most cases of Covid-19) and shops there are still shut. But over the river they have opened some of the shops.
This led to police being stationed on the bridges to stop people going shopping. Just bizarre. To my mind anyway.
And if you need more proof as to how serious the government in Bayern is taking things, they've cancelled Oktoberfest (for this year).
And shops should open next week in Bayern. We'll see.
(I've linked to Ulm in the map thing so you can see for yourself)
