Under the car door

Much scuttling about between downpours. In between times, there were chores and a little bit of perusing.
I did love this fine example of the puffed up Scot from the letters page of the Sunday Herald. John JG McGill, the self styled General Secretary of Scotland-UN (don't bother to go looking for it, btw) writes:
Scotland has had, for more than 1500 years, a written constitution (the oldest in the Western world), which merely requires additional clauses passed in Scotland's Parliament to bring it up to the needs and aspirations of the people of Scotland going forward in the 21st century.
Well, well. I bet youse didnae know that! Move aside, Greece and Rome. Away wi yi! We are the lost tribe of Israel, pal. Aye, and James Watt introduced the separate condenser to the Newcomen steam engine. That last bit isn't made up.
