Bugs On A Log

Today we studied our sense of taste.
First, we tried foods from the five different types of taste, and tried to work out what part of our tongue sensed it (the whole family got involved at this point):
sour - grapefruit - sides
salty - crisps - tip
sweet - honey - front middle
bitter - dark chocolate - back
savoury (umami) - middle
(In case any homeschoolers want ideas!)

Then we went out in the Park and picked dandelion leaves and wild garlic. Had the leaves in a salad at lunchtime; the dandelion was so bitter. But, on our "picnic log" were these two bugs, that tasted delicious. They had come all the way from Sweden, thanks, Jan.

Gratefuls:
- a video call from Cecílio and Ermelinda, on our Land in Mourão, showing us how the grass, vines and trees we planted have grown - it's rained a lot there... wondering when we'll see it again, and whether it will still be green then...
- that our 16kg bag of bread flour arrived today, think it will do us for a while
- Julia, who was really very ill at lunchtime (not with the virus), a lot better now - didn't want her on an IV in hospital at the moment!
