Hedge Garlic

Another day that almost slipped by without me noticing. The morning was spent working on the computer, while in the afternoon Pete and I started the long task sorting out our three tumbledown sheds. We're sharing a skip with a neighbour and thought that lockdown was the ideal time to get on with this long overdue task - it's amazing how much you can accumulate after twenty-six years living in the same house!

I didn't think about photography until we were preparing dinner, but the evening light was just catching the Hedge Garlic on our patio. We introduced this species to the garden, as it is one of the food plants of  the Orange-tip butterfly. It was supposed to live in the wilder part of the garden, but has ended up on the patio. Orange-tips regularly breed on it, which means we have to keep the plants until they've seeded - so it's presence is now permanent. I do pull up seedlings in the spring, but there are always quite a few that escape!
