Aquamarine/Nanna K's Day

Net Work

Today I sent off in the mail Fiona and my contribution to Environmental Artist Adriane Baker’s tree network project, I’ve mentioned before.  She’ll do an installation about how trees communicate underground in the forest and then hopefully in a gallery later.    First tho I needed a picture with a good tree…not sure what this is exactly and then I couldn’t leave out the bluebells or the blue sky, but here is my knitted 10+ ft strand and Fiona’s double 15 ft piece.  Blowing in the wind.  Met my friend Randi for a chat on the nearby benches, 10 feet apart, but the wind was so loud it was hard to hear ourselves talk. Especially with masks.  (she brought me more olive balls!!)

The big news of the day is that our island property sale closed today and the check is being couriered to the bank as I write.   (This seems like the pony express ..what happened to electronic transfer up there??) , we’ll raise a glass to celebrate tonight!   It was the non developed lot next to our cabin in the gulf islands…the neighbor on the other side also wanted it to be a buffer but really wanted to “clean it up “ of all the fallen trees from the dec 2018 storm and he has the equipment to do it.   And now we don’t have to think about that…we still get to use the trails we built and the labyrinth but H can stop getting rid of Scots broom up there.  (there’s plenty to do on our lot!)   It will probably look like a park by the next time we get to see it, alas……..I do hope he leaves a few fallen trees for habitat and nurse logs.     At least there won’t be any building in the near future.

Quite a nice day EXCEPT ..as we expected, our Rick Steves tour to Europe this summer for our 80th with our family of 10 ..it was very exciting...was definitely cancelled today ..which is disappointing like so many others are experiencing now....so we'll have to be creative and come up with a plan B..that doesn't involve air travel.

extra: our knitting strands ....connecting trees underground...and people all over. On the way to Canada.
