A Day Of Deliveries.

Today is a beautiful day, weather wise and I spent a good part of it working in The Policies waging war on the Brambles.

I was also keeping an eye out for three deliveries. Everything is delivered to us and has been for some seven weeks or so.

The first delivery is from Sainsbury’s and the driver arrives almost to the minute anticipated.

We have this "dance" of chatting to each other and yet keeping more than the distance required.

He is very pleased to be out on the road meeting people at a distance. Most he meets are kind and chatty.

He observes some "silly" behaviour. There is a big number of cyclists and walkers exercising on the Tay Road Bridge. Keeping a "social distance" is impossible, something I may have mentioned on a previous post.

Delivery Number 2 is by Steve of DPD who parks in the road. He is delivering my new iPhone. Apparently it is one amongst many.

I mention that I cannot sign for it as i am being "shielded". "No problem, I can photograph your feet! We are prohibited from photographing your face."

Apparently Steve has encountered some rather "erasable" customers who just ignore the minimum distance, saying they do not believe in it." They must be followers of Nellie The Elephant".

He counters. "I do" whilst stepping back, smartly.

Finally, a rather pleasant lady who is delivering for Amazon. She has the Icegel bags to treat Pat’s back and knee problem.

She puts the package about 3 metres away from me on the ground, and steps back. After she is 3 metres back I pick it up, and asks when the church closed.

1968.

She had always fancied the idea of being married in it.

Of course, the last wedding took place in 1984 when Pat and I were married.

It turns out that she is on furlough for the foreseeable. She is a "dinner lady" and the school is closed. She is still being paid the full amount, but was very quickly bored being at home.

She applied to deliver for Amazon using her own car and she works a three hour slot at her choosing.

The pay is £42 per slot and she has to pay her car costs. Depending on the deliveries she can travel 10 miles or 100 miles.

Pat was pleased to see the gel bags recommended by Keith the Osteopath when he had telephoned on Sunday.

Early results show they are very effective.

So three little conversations which were interesting and friendly.

As someone once said "It is good to talk".

The two trees are a Beech nearer the wall and a Copper Beech nearer the camera which Pat and I planted about eighteen years ago.

We like Copper Beeches.
