During our Skype Spanish lesson, Bea asked us to send her some photos of the garden so she could decide what the gardener should prioritise. So I went out and took a few. Here is the lantana, which has gone into overdrive. Such a lovely place to sit in the shade with a book and a glass of something. Extra 2 is a more jungly part of the garden. And extra 1 is my most successful sourdough loaf for a good while, probably not unconnected to finally getting some strong flour.

Lunch was pulled and devilled chicken using the cooked chicken from yesterday, served with rice. This is an old favourite from Jane Grigson's English Food. I haven't made it for years and don't have the book here, so I googled it and to my pleasure found a blog by someone who is cooking every single recipe in the book. It's taken him ten years and he's almost there. What a delight; I'll be spending some time browsing through it.

I had to improvise the devil sauce a bit for lack of ingredients, namely mango chutney and Worcestershire sauce. I used loquat jam and soy sauce instead, and added a squirt of Thai sweet chili sauce to give it a bit of a kick. It worked really well. Such a delicious recipe.

The parameters for going out for walks have just been announced. We're going to have to modify our lifestyle and stop lounging in bed in the mornings, because the hours we're allowed out are 6-10 am and 8-11 pm. At least we can go and watch the sunset on the beach. If you are doing sport you can stay out as long as you like, otherwise it's one hour and one kilometre from home.
