Day 40 - Kev returns

I haven't seen him for a few days so it was a lovely surprise to find him up in the tree, picking over the few berries that are left.  Soon there will be none at all......

And speaking of none.....zero......zip......that's our COVID update today.  No new cases to report.  Yay!!  I swear you could hear the collective sigh of the nation and whilst we all know we're not through yet, it sure does feel like a very large stride in the right direction.  We're expecting an update from PM Jacinda on Thursday about what Level 2 will look like and then on Monday - in a week's time - we'll find out whether we move to Level 2.  I know it seems like a long and somewhat protracted process, but I still don't understand why on earth people are already thinking that we're home and hosed.  A local judge is quoted as saying, "The rules are pretty simple, I'm not sure what is so special about you that you think you can ignore the rules," to a young woman who has blatantly flouted the rules on a number of occasions with seemingly little remorse.  Let's hope that for this last stretch that people play a team game and think of the greater good not their own personal wants.

Rant over - I'm just pleased the country is full of far more socially aware, rule-obeying people than self-centred individuals.
