Sally Mair - Loving life

Iris

Star Wars day again, not really a fan but it always makes me smile.
The first of my iris opened today, but there are going to be a huge number of blooms on them this year. Never mind 'it's been a good year for the roses ' it's a pretty good year for the iris!
This morning I woke to a dull and wet garden and it didn't really cheer up much till lunch time. After that though, things definitely picked up to the extent that I had my Cursillo Reunion group Zoom meeting in the garden.
After that I set to attending to the cold frame, then planted out some sweet peas and emptied another potato sack. Talk about a quick turn around, some of them had started sprouting in the sack. They are King Edward's, which I love and this years seed potatoes are Maris Peer(lack of choice really) so I got some new compost a different potato sack and replanted some immediately. It will be interesting to see how they compare. We got just under 2kg again in this sack so they've done us well. Only one sack left though then we're going to have to add potatoes to the shopping list. The compost from the sack went onto the front rose bed which is looking much happier after having had 3 sacks of used compost on it.
A fairly quiet day all told, I spoke to K who is on nights this week, her husband is on back shift so A is covering the evening between K going to work and J coming home. He will then have 6 hours sleep before getting up to send the girls off to school /nursery. K will then get home around 10 from her night shift and have 6 hours sleep before getting up to bring them home again, give them dinner and put them to bed before going back out to work. A difficult week logistically, lucky A is able to help as we can't. In between she'll be supporting her class who are all in their own homes and looking to their teacher for input. Phew! Hopefully the girls will be in bed by the time she gets there as they are so excited about her coming.

We're having roast chicken for dinner today, my tummy seems to have sorted itself out and I'm looking forward to it.

Keep well and safe everybody, it's going to be summer soon. It's already light till almost 9 in the evening, it changes so quickly one week to the next.
