A Day In The Life

¡Feliz Cinco de Mayo!

México mostly celebrated this day with historical re-enactments and parades for the anniversary of a victory by Mexican forces over the French in the Battle of Puebla on May 5, 1862. In the 1980s the day was popularized in the US mostly by beer companies, and it’s now second to the Super Bowl for beer sales. Today it’s widely celebrated in recognition of Mexican-American culture. I learned about this culture while living in S. Texas and working in N. México for about 3 years. We purchased this blanket as a memento for our time there. Tonight we will indulge in: guacamole en molcajete, frijoles negros con arroz y cerveza fría con limón. ¡Viva la México!
