The first bloom

We planted a rose shrub in a container last year. The variety is Gertrude Jekyll, which is one of the most popular. I can see why. The flower is wonderfully formed, and with a lovely strong scent. It flowers early.

The first flower bud formed weeks ago, and now the first bloom is out. And there are plenty more buds, so it looks promising.

So a simple shot to end this short working week, no processing needed. Closely framed it does have an abstract quality about it.

My day started with a cup of tea and three Kraftwerk numbers on Radio 3’s breakfast show. One of the founders of the band, Florian Schneider, died recently. It will end (in working terms at least) with online “Team Drinks”. A new end of week ritual in this new home-working world, and a good one.
