When It Rains It Pours

So interesting how we rely on things we take for granted and these things are more starkly missed when options are more limited. This afternoon on the road next to ours an 18 wheel lorry caught the electricity power lines, ripped them apart and pulled the pole out of the ground - power went out of course! Why such a huge lorry has to be taking a short cut through a residential neighborhood or why all the power lines are all above ground making them vulnerable are 2 other stories we won’t get into. The driver of the lorry had to stay in his cab as an exposed wire carrying 50,000 volts was lying on his vehicle. We had no electricity into the evening and when I took this picture they were waiting for a new pole to arrive. Then of course it started raining and lightning! Poor guys had to finish this off in torrential rain. Finally the power returned at 12:15 am and we are back to normal lock down. I did get a lot of my book read though! Thankful for the electricity workers who got onto this so quickly and ensured hundreds of houses didn’t have to waste spoiled food - even if this could have been avoided - their prompt and efficient response was much appreciated.
