Celebrations

Early this morning we were out fixing our Union Jack outside the front gate. The only flag I have is a single duvet! We used the pillowcase as a table covering when we were out in the gateway for our street party. Six households in our little cul de sac set up camp at the required distance and enjoyed a social time together. Some of us are old enough to remember VE Day and stories were exchanged. We drank bubbly, and then we had tea and cake. Coco was very puzzled and wandered from group to group before finding herself a patch of shade for a doze.
Afterwards we watched commemorative programmes on tv. It is all very emotional. Good to think about something other than the wretched coronavirus.
